All of the artist's work featured have been carefully selected due to their innately delicate balance of emotive influence. Weaving an effortless thread from the joyous to the melancholy, or sometimes nestled indefinably between the two, the works presented share an evocative quality, designed to arouse and awaken the soul.
Anduin
…also known as Jonathan Lee is predomminatly a sound based artist based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Anduin's new sound installation work work Filed Away has been made to the particular dimensions of this site for startrunning and continues his ongoing investigation of physical comfort and raw design. This artwork is expected to simultaneously entertain and challenges us to temporally explore our darker memories experienced.
Antony Clarkson
…is an artist currently based in Manchester whose body of kinetic-sculptures are all life forms in the spirit of the Great Victorian Age of discovery and invention; and hark back to Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, and Jules Verne. Marking Time is the forth evolution of his Wheelchairs series, clocks that use their hands to push themselves along. As clocks are prosthetic devices for man, allowing us to keep track of time; so the extensions to the hands of the clock give it life, firstly by allowing it to move and secondly by allowing it's movements to be tracked as the object draws it's way forward. Spirituality Levels is a hybrid innovation where the pen barrel is the prosthetic that allows the other two objects to procreate and produce; a form of sexual splint link Viagra. Clarkson's third offering, Dea-lights is a site specific sculptural installation, which temporarily transforms the use of and brings life and joy to a radiator.
Jasper TX
…is the confused sounds of Dag Rosenqvist, a musician/sound artist based in Gothenburg. His sound installation Gothenburg, field nr.1 is an intimately presented new work that embodies the artist himself and the location of where this field recording was made in Sweden. For all its subtleties and low end sound and fury – is, like much of Jasper TX's beautifly crafted works that explore immersive drones and natural noise frequencies.
Jon Owen
…is an artist based in Leeds. The newly created work conflates a number of different objects and their various forms. Here, in this spectacle of curiosity of collected and made objects and drawings, we are invited to supply our own version of the narrative. The installation calls into question various themes to which the work refers.
Sarah Hardacre
…is a Salford based artist who through her practice explores the construction of knowledge and the institutional shaping of history and the natural world. Her new works for startrunning cast light upon and reflect momentary disturbance; questioning the clichés of chronicle and examining the gap between rational reasoning and irrational influence. Each individual piece have been cleverly integrated into the fabric of the venue or presented to engage in dialogue with one another… to create an anomally of memory.
con_cetta
...also known as Giuseppe Cordaro currently lives and works in Milan as a sound based artist. His work is mainly based on autogenerative processes, in particular on the vertical sound concept. For this newly created live performance con_cetta will explore and exploite an ongoing movement between textural possibilities largely build around subtle compelling melodic compositions and fractured dialogues.
Xela
…also know as John Twells is currently a nomadic figure travelling widely into the heart of the darker electronic sound. For startrunning Xela will work with vocals and effects, adding field recordings and tape loops to build upon his impressive shifts in momentum and disfigured musical elements. Accompanying him will be Seasons (Pre-din) a UK based musician who will be manipulating pre existing recordings and intergrating string instruments into their atonal experiments.
